Habitat for Humanity - Pickens County Mission:
Our mission is to mobilize volunteers from the churches, businesses, organizations and households of our community to form a cohesive coalition to fund and build simple, decent affordable housing in partnership with God and God's people in need. We do this in support of the covenants and values of Habitat for Humanity International with the ultimate goal of eliminating poverty housing in Pickens County, Georgia.

Pickens Habitat Volunteer Opportunities:

Construction: Construction site volunteers are needed most Saturdays. We have a tremendous need for construction site volunteers, either individual or group. No construction experience is necessary.

Saturday Construction: Volunteers are most needed Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  New volunteers are required to complete the on-line volunteer registration and an orientation (either online or in person).  We are unable to accept anyone under the age of 16 on our construction sites.  Building locations and specific information can be found on our construction calendar, but workdays are always confirmed via email.  You will need your email address and Pickens Habitat password to access the construction calendar. Previous construction experience is not required.

NOTE:  From time to time, we schedule volunteer workdays during the week, so if your schedule is better suited to a weekday, we still need you!


"Regular" construction: If you are able to commit to a day or two a month on a Saturday, you can become part of a regular construction crew.  You will officially become a "regular" once you volunteer 6 or more times with Pickens Habitat.

Administrative assistance: Assistance is needed for our office located at 135 Cares Drive in Jasper.   Volunteer shifts and times are flexible and available Monday through Saturday.  

Other areas of need/ committee volunteers: Since Pickens Habitat is a volunteer driven organization, we have a tremendous need for volunteers outside of construction.  See our non-construction link for specific information regarding these needs.

NOTE:  Construction volunteers are asked to review the Liability Wavier form, and to complete a Construction Skills Survey.
